MASSAGE THERAPY
What is Massage Therapy?
Rubbing areas that hurt is a natural human response. Even other mammals do this. Massage is based on the same principle: rubbing and manipulating muscles.
Massage is found to be helpful both physically and emotionally. The rubbing not only soothes sore muscles but the mind as well.
Massaging muscles and soft tissue stimulates nerves, increases blood flow and relieves stress in the muscles. Over the centuries, several massage techniques have developed. They are outlined below.
How often do I need a massage?
Although a single massage will be enjoyable, the effects of massage are cumulative and a course of massage treatments will bring the most benefits. Regular massage can have the effect of strengthening and toning the entire body mechanism, and so help to prevent unnecessary strains and injuries that might otherwise occur due to excess tension and any resulting structural weaknesses.
Massage can stimulate or calm the nervous system-depending upon what is required by the individual-and thus help reduce fatigue, leaving the receiver with a feeling of replenished energy. At its best, massage has the potential to restore the individual physically, mentally and spiritually.
Baby's love massage too!
Babies And Children usually enjoy being massaged as much as adults, but will often only keep still for a short space of time. The strokes you have learned can be used on babies and children - just adapt them to allow for their size and the fact that their little bodies will not have built up the same chronic tensions that adults can suffer from. Just explore and discover what your child likes best.
